This time Fernando Casas was inspired by the 1940s. The inspiration source was Diego Rivera´s geniality in his colourful work " The seller of lillies". It was at that time that the great studios turned their eyes to Latin America: Vincent Minelli, George Sydney, George Stevens... Who has not ever seen Notorious or has not ever wanted to visit Brazil led by Jose Carioca? Who has not ever picked up the catchy Begin the Beguine or which lady has not ever dreamt of wearing those masterpieces coming from Edith Head, Travilla, Irene and Jean Louis´s needle and scissors?
These spaces were created by Fernando Casas and BejamĂn Fernández with the special collaboration of Manolo Blahnik. Verdi´s music was inspired by that lady of eventful life who ruled in the heart of that romantic Paris. Let´s set the 19th century aside, but not Paris. The Dior, Saint Laurent Paris, Balmain and Balenciaga´s allure, all of them, together with their eternal creations, supported the fragile crystal heart of an immense woman who also turned her Violet ValĂ©ry into an immortal creation: a Traviata, which keeps on beating in our art-loving hearts, 51 years later.
Gaanda and Bemilake´s ceramics, shields made of hippopotamus skin, Karamojong´s lances, Ethiopian and Somalian necklaces, Tuareg nomad posts from Mali and Chad, Kasai´s cushions and Turkana´s wooden bowls. With all of these tools from ancient ages and several kinds of silk, such as mazka-mazka, noil fesua, tasares and organzas, we can admire a real African desert thanks to Fernando Casas and BenjamĂn Fernández in our shop,at Don RamĂłn de la Cruz, 39, Madrid (Spain) (IMAIAN, ART AND AFRICAN ANTIQUES solofernando@hotmail.es
